Edward Granter is Associate Professor in Organizational Behaviour in the Department of Management at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. His academic work bridges sociology, organizational studies, and critical management, with a focus on the evolving nature of work, power, and resistance in contemporary society.

Dr Granter's research explores a broad range of themes including the future and end of work, post-work societies, algorithmic and AI-driven labor, academic freedom, and extreme work environments such as the UK ambulance service. He has a long-standing interest in the Frankfurt School, particularly the work of Adorno, Horkheimer, and Marcuse, and has contributed significantly to critical discourse on André Gorz and utopian thought. His teaching includes courses on organizational behaviour, the future of work, and managing work and organizations.
His recent publications reveal a strong trend toward critical analysis of digital labor, managerial discourse, and institutional control. He frequently collaborates with scholars such as Jillian Aroles, Paul Hyde, and Laurence McCann. His work appears in top journals including Work, Employment and Society, Journal of Management Studies, and Competition and Change. He is also co-editor of the Encyclopedia of Critical Management Studies (Edward Elgar, 2024).
