Edward Gillin is an Associate Professor at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, University College London (UCL), specializing in cultural history with a focus on science, technology, and architecture in the nineteenth century. He holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford (2015) and has held research fellowships at Oxford and Cambridge.
His research explores the interplay between architectural practice and scientific knowledge, large-scale infrastructure projects, and the governance of science in Victorian Britain. His Leverhulme-funded project, “The State of Science: governing knowledge of nature in Victorian Britain” (2020-23), examined the scientific culture of the Houses of Parliament.
