Edward Dove is a Professor of Law at Maynooth University's School of Law and Criminology (joined July 2024) and an Honorary Professor at Edinburgh Law School. He holds a BA in Political Science from McGill University, LLM from Columbia University, and a PhD in Law from the University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on health privacy law, research ethics governance, and medical law. He serves on Maynooth's Social Research Ethics Sub-Committee and ALL Institute, and is a Co-Investigator in the Horizon Europe-funded CHANGER project, which reforms research ethics reviews. He chairs the International Data Privacy Law journal and sits on editorial boards for the European Journal of Health Law and Research Ethics. Previously, he coordinated the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health's Regulatory and Ethics Work Stream, drafting its influential Framework for Responsible Sharing of Genomic and Health-Related Data. Dove has authored/co-authored key texts like Regulatory Stewardship of Health Research (2020) and co-edited volumes including The Cambridge Handbook of Health Research Regulation (2021). His current projects include monographs on health privacy law and genetic nondiscrimination policies.
