Edmund Barker is a Lecturer in Digital Culture & Technology within the Digital Humanities School. His research focuses on interdisciplinary topics including robotics ethics, human-technology interaction, and sociological methodologies. Recent work explores disability futures through Cybathlon spectatorship, art-sociology collaborations, and tactile-affect studies in robotics.
Notable projects include the Leverhulme Trust-funded 'Biohybrid bodies: a sociological framework for living with Living Machines' (2024). His research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to innovation and societal well-being. Barker has co-authored over 18 peer-reviewed articles and actively participates in collaborative research initiatives addressing methodological challenges in uncertain contexts.
