Edith Galy is a University Professor at Université Côte d'Azur, affiliated with the School of Research in Health Sciences and the Department of Psychology. She directs the Laboratory of Anthropology and Clinical, Cognitive and Social Psychology (LAPCOS) and coordinates the RPS unit. Her research spans ergonomics, cognitive and social psychology, focusing on mental workload modeling, quality of life at work, and the impact of sound environments in open offices.
- Director, LAPCOS Research Laboratory (2023–present)
- Coordinator, RPS Unit (2021–present)
- Director, Psychology Department (2021–2023)
- Co-director, Master’s in Cognitive Ergonomics of Digital Technologies (2018–present)
Her research explores the interplay between individual characteristics (physiological, cognitive, affective, social) and situational factors (task design, work organization, acoustic environment) through the ICA (Individu–Charge mentale–Activité) transactional model. She developed a validated scale to assess mental workload across four dimensions: intrinsic, extrinsic, essential load, and available resources.
Recent projects include FABO (ANR-funded, 2020–2024), analyzing fatigue dynamics in open offices from a multidisciplinary perspective (acoustics, psychoacoustics, ergonomics), and studies on alcohol’s biphasic effects on young drivers’ behavior (funded by Road Safety Foundation and Ministerial Delegation for Road Safety).
Collaborations include INRS (Nancy), INSA Lyon’s Vibrations and Acoustics Laboratory, IFSTTAR (Gustave Eiffel University), and partnerships with researchers like Patrick Chevret and Catherine Berthelon. Grants from ANSES (2017–2019) and ANR (2020–2024) support her work, including postdoctoral and doctoral contracts (e.g., Jean-Noël Amato, Krist Kostallari).
