Eden MacAdam-Somer serves as Co-Chair of the Department of Contemporary Musical Arts at New England Conservatory. She is a composer, performer, and improviser renowned for integrating violin, vocals, and percussive dance across diverse cultural traditions. Her international career includes collaborations with symphony orchestras, folk ensembles, and institutions like the Afghan National Institute of Music.
She holds a BM from Moores School of Music (University of Houston), MM from Shepherd School of Music (Rice University), and DMA from New England Conservatory. Her research explores cross-cultural expressions through music, improvisation, and interdisciplinary performance.
Awards include the Music Teacher's National Association State Division and Lennox Young Artists Competitions. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes technical facility and aural skills to foster individual artistic expression.
