Dr. Eddy Hogg is a Senior Lecturer in Social Policy at the University of Kent, School of Social Sciences. He serves as Co-Director of Education and Student Experience for the Division of Law, Society and Social Justice, and Director of Studies for BA Social Policy and Social Change, and BA Health and Social Care courses. His research focuses on volunteering, charitable giving, and public attitudes toward the voluntary sector, with recent emphasis on pandemic-era volunteer mobilization across the UK, school-based charitable engagement, and NHS volunteering roles. Dr. Hogg holds a PhD from Northumbria University (2012), following degrees from the University of Manchester (BA 2007, MA 2008).
Research highlights include exploring disparities in school charitable support, the impact of charity regulation policies, and youth volunteering pathways. He collaborates with organizations like Age UK and contributes to public discourse via media appearances (BBC, The Guardian) and academic networks like the Voluntary Sector Studies Network.
