Prof. Dr. Ebru Uzunoğlu serves as a Professor in the Public Relations and Advertising Department at Izmir University of Economics' Faculty of Communication, where she has held significant leadership roles including 8 years as department head and 2.5 years as Acting Dean. Previously, she was a visiting scholar at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism during 2016-2017.
She earned her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Ege University's Faculty of Communication. Her academic journey follows extensive industry experience where she worked for 12 years in national and international companies as Marketing Communication Specialist, Product Manager, and Marketing Specialist before joining IUE in September 2006.
Her research critically examines integrated marketing communications, brand communications, and corporate communication with particular focus on digital media's transformative role. She has published extensively in top-tier journals including Public Relations Review and Industrial Marketing Management, and co-edited the seminal work Integrated Communication in Post-Modern Era with Prof. Philip Kitchen.
Analysis of her recent publications (2017-2025) reveals sophisticated methodological approaches including semantic network analysis and experimental designs applied to emerging domains like social media engagement, corporate social responsibility, and national identity construction. Her work consistently bridges theoretical rigor with practical marketing communication challenges.
She actively contributes to professional associations as a three-term board member of the Izmir Public Relations Association, demonstrating ongoing commitment to the field's development beyond academia.
Her teaching portfolio includes advanced courses such as Integrated Marketing Communication Campaign Design, Brand Management, and Marketing Communications, where she integrates her substantial industry experience with current academic research to prepare students for contemporary communication challenges.
