Ebony Dix, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and Medical Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Inpatient Unit at Yale New Haven Hospital’s Saint Raphael Campus. She leads a multidisciplinary team focused on geriatric mental health, integrating clinical care with education for medical students, PA trainees, and psychiatric residents. Her clinical expertise includes electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and management of mood disorders, cognitive impairments, and insomnia in older adults.
Dr. Dix graduated from Columbia University (BA 2003), Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (MD 2014), and completed psychiatry residency at West Virginia University (2018) and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Yale (2019). She is board-certified in both General Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry.
Her research emphasizes improving mental healthcare access and quality for older adults, particularly through lifestyle interventions, combating ageism, and addressing systemic inequities. Notable work includes studies on brain health preservation, insomnia management, and the neurocognitive impacts of chronic conditions like Long COVID. She has been recognized with awards including the Hartford-Jeste Award and Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
Dr. Dix actively participates in professional organizations such as the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry. Her clinical practice and teaching roles underscore her commitment to advancing geriatric psychiatry education and translational research.
