Earlene Cruz is a Visiting Professor at the NYU School of Global Public Health, focusing on food insecurity drivers such as conflict, climate change, and socio-economic factors. She holds an MA in Social Entrepreneurship and Food Studies from NYU Gallatin. Her research explores food’s role in uniting/dividing communities and harnessing its power to transcend conflict.
Education: Master's degree in Social Entrepreneurship and Food Studies at Gallatin, New York University.
Research Interests: Examines how food systems intersect with global challenges, promoting interdisciplinary approaches to address hunger and cultural divides. Her work emphasizes bilingualism and intercultural exchange as tools for peacebuilding.
Awards: Recognized as a James Beard Scholar for her contributions to food-related social initiatives.
Professional Contributions: Co-contributor to The Bilingual Revolution, a book translated into eight languages. Previously supported film and bilingual programs at the French Embassy in New York. Currently serves on the Youth Steering Committee of the UN Department of Global Communications and boards of nonprofits advancing social entrepreneurship and peacebuilding.
Labs/Teams: Founder and Director of KitchenConnection.org, an initiative using cooking classes to support SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
