EVA MARIA ACOSTA PLAZA

EVA MARIA ACOSTA PLAZA is a Professor of Applied Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Faculty of Physics and the Strategic Grouping in Materials (AEMAT). Her research focuses on optical engineering, biomedical optics, and wavefront coding techniques. She leads the Photonics4Life research group, specializing in applications like retinal imaging and aberration correction. Key contributions include developing Jacobi-Fourier phase masks for improving imaging systems and enhancing retinal image clarity in cataract-affected patients. Her work integrates optical design, digital signal processing, and biomedical applications. She holds a PhD from the University of Santiago de Compostela (1990), advised by Dr. Carlos Gómez-Reino. Notable projects include interferometric lens meters for progressive addition lenses and optimized phase plate designs for color imaging.
