ELENA PÉREZ ESTEVAN

ELENA PÉREZ ESTEVAN is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alicante's Department of Translation and Interpreting, part of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. Her academic roles include teaching courses in medical translation, international organization translation, and interpreting for legal/judicial contexts. She is affiliated with research groups INCOGNITO (Interculturality, Cognition, Interpretation, Translation) and LOGOI (Laboratory for General Observation of Speakers and Interpreters).

Education includes a PhD in Translation and Interpreting (2022), a Master's in Medical Translation (2016), and a degree in Translation and Interpreting (2014). She also holds a Master's in Teacher Training (2019).

Research focuses on healthcare interpretation in end-of-life scenarios, gender bias in translation, and professional English training. Recent work includes studies on interpreter-mediated grief counseling, automated gendered language translation, and pandemic-era healthcare communication needs.

Collaborates on research projects such as the INCOGNITO group's intercultural communication studies (2021-2023) and the MESTISA project exploring stress in social interpretation (2024). Active in international conferences like CIUTI 2022 and the 2024 Lublin Translation Symposium.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in translation theory, technical-scientific translation (English-Spanish), and legal/police interpreting. Supervises final-year projects in translation studies.
