Dr. Dylan Irvine is an Outstanding Future Researcher at Charles Darwin University, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Research Institute for Environment and Livelihoods. His work focuses on groundwater hydrology, employing innovative tracer techniques and numerical modeling to address critical water resource challenges.
- Stygofauna controls (2024)
- Global groundwater warming (2024)
- Coastal hydrogeology (multiple projects)
- Software development for groundwater analysis
With over 55 research outputs and 17 projects since 2012, Dr. Irvine has developed specialized tools like PyTFLUX and BDFLUX for analyzing groundwater fluxes. His recent 2025 publications include comprehensive assessments of climate change impacts on Northern Territory ecosystems and novel approaches to groundwater recharge mapping. While not explicitly listing formal awards, his work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals 6, 13, and 14, focusing on clean water, climate action, and life below water.
Current projects include rain-fed cotton resilience in Northern Australia, Great Artesian Basin studies, and continental-scale groundwater analysis using Australia-wide hydrogeochemical data. Dr. Irvine actively supervises HDR students and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across Australia, Germany, and the US.
