Dustin Stegner is a Professor in the Department of English at California Polytechnic State University. He holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from Pennsylvania State University (2007), an M.A. (2002), and a B.A. (2000) from the same institution.
His research focuses on Early Modern English Literature and Graphic Narratives, with notable contributions to Shakespearean studies and confessional literature. He teaches courses such as Introduction to Shakespeare, Race, Gender, and Coming of Age in Contemporary Graphic Narrative, and survey courses on medieval to Enlightenment literature.
Stegner’s recent publications explore themes like penitential traditions in early modern literature, gendered confessions in Shakespeare’s works, and the intersection of politics and religion in Renaissance texts. His 2015 book Confession and Memory in Early Modern English Literature: Penitential Remains synthesizes these themes.
