Dustin Massey

Dustin Massey is an Academic Professor of Foundation Studies at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since 2021, holding a full-time position. He previously served as a Full-Time Lecturer (2020–21), Adjunct Professor (2019–20), and held multiple instructor roles at institutions including Spartanburg Community College and Tri County Community College. He also maintains a freelance art practice under D.L. Masseyart and has worked as a professional wrestler (1997–2006).

Educated at Clemson University (M.F.A., Visual Arts) and East Carolina University (B.F.A., Art), his work spans academic instruction and creative practice. His research interests focus on visual arts education methodologies and contemporary art practices, particularly exploring intersections between pop culture and artistic expression.

Notable recognitions include the 2019 First Place JAS Award and the Tran and Marilyn Gordley Scholarship (1999). His exhibitions include solo shows like FreeDumb Club (2019) and group exhibitions such as Pushing Pop (2021) and Artfields 2019. He has also contributed to publications like Studio Visit Magazine and LUMINA XVII: Resistance.

Massey’s teaching spans foundational art education, K-12 art instruction, and community arts programs. His professional affiliations include the College Arts Association and Al Lab Arts.
