Dushyant Vyas is a Professor of Accounting at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), with a cross-appointment to the Accounting area at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. He holds a PhD in Accounting from the Rotman School of Management, an MSc in Finance from Queen’s University, a Master’s in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, and a BE (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani, Pilani, India.
His research focuses on critical areas in accounting and finance, including accounting for financial institutions, financial distress and insolvency, private company accounting, information intermediaries, and international issues in finance and accounting. His work addresses key challenges related to financial crises and regulatory reporting practices, particularly in the banking sector.
Dushyant has published in premier academic journals such as the Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, Management Science, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Journal of Financial Stability. His research has been featured in prominent media outlets including The Globe and Mail, The Economist, Financial Times, The Times (London), and Hindustan Times. He has presented at numerous international conferences and has been invited as a panelist on financial reporting by banks during financial crises.
He was previously an Assistant Professor in Accounting at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, before joining the University of Toronto. There is no indication of part-time status, retirement, or emeritus status.
