Durdu Güney is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan Technological University. Prior to this, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the US Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory and Iowa State University. His research focuses on advanced optical and quantum technologies, particularly in metamaterials and quantum computing.
- PhD: Electrical Engineering (Applied Physics), University of California, San Diego (2007)
- MS: Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Sabanci University
- BS: Physics, Bosphorus (Bogazici) University
Prof. Güney's research explores photonic quantum computing, quantum manipulation of light using metamaterials and metasurfaces, magneto-optical metamaterials, and noise mitigation in optical imaging. His work bridges theoretical and applied physics with engineering applications.
His recent publications highlight interdisciplinary trends combining quantum optics, plasmonics, and metamaterials. Key areas include loss compensation techniques, superresolution imaging, terahertz source development, and quantum entanglement engineering.
Scientific Awards
- Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award (2012)
Prof. Güney also contributes to academic discourse as a member of editorial boards for journals in photonics, quantum information, and nanomaterials.
