Stéphane Dufour is a tenured Professor in the Information and Communication Sciences (71st section of the CNU) at the University of Lorraine. He serves as co-leader of the Passages du Crem team (since 2024) and previously co-led the Praxis team (2018-2023). As Director of the Fernand Braudel New Humanities doctoral school and former Deputy Director of Crem, he oversees significant academic initiatives.
- Research Themes: Sensitive Communication, Sacred Communication of the Religious, Brand Strategies
- Responsibilities: Head of the Information-Communication Masters program (since 2021), Head of the Communication Strategy and Consulting course (since 2018)
His scholarly work bridges religious discourse analysis with brand communication strategies, examining topics like Christmas naming controversies, religious object exhibitions, and therapeutic education. He has supervised two PhD theses on topics ranging from smart urban regeneration to scientific uncertainty communication.
Recent research includes 15 articles (2018-2024) covering:
- Religious Communication: Digital transformation of religious practices (2024), priest media representation (2018)
- Brand Analysis: Nostalgia in brand narratives (2018), controlled-origin wine advertising (2022)
