Education:
- B.S. in Chemistry from Southern Nazarene University (1973)
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry from University of Kansas (1978)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Notre Dame (1978-1981)
Research Overview: Dr. Strickland's lab discovered the LDL receptor-related protein (LRP1) and its molecular chaperone RAP. His work investigates LRP1's roles in vascular inflammation, thrombosis, atherosclerosis, aneurysms, and Alzheimer's disease. Key projects explore LRP1's regulation of protease activity, TGFβ signaling, and thrombus resolution in DVT. Grants include NIH R01 awards and Marfan Foundation funding.
Scientific Recognition:
- Tiffany Award for Technical Excellence (1994)
- Distinguished Researcher Award (1996)
- Faculty Award for Diversity and Inclusion (2014)
Notable Invitations: Dr. Strickland has been invited to speak at prestigious conferences including EMBO, International Congress of Hemostasis, and Gordon Conferences on Extracellular Proteolysis. He served as Chair for NIH Hemostasis and Thrombosis Study Section (2011-2013) and AHA Advisory Council (2010-2013).
