Dr. Duck-chul (DC) Lee is a Professor in the Department of Health and Human Development at the University of Pittsburgh and Director of the Physical Activity Research Center (PARC). He holds a PhD in Physical Activity Epidemiology from Seoul National University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of South Carolina under Dr. Steven Blair.
His research focuses on the health benefits of physical activity, fitness, and exercise training on chronic disease prevention (e.g., cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes) and longevity. He uses large observational studies and randomized controlled trials to explore these relationships. Dr. Lee has secured significant grants, including NIH R01 funding for studies like the CardioRACE trial and DoReps project.
His awards include the 'Top Ten Publication Award' from the American Heart Association and the 'Atlas Award' from Elsevier. He serves on the Physical Activity Committee of the American Heart Association and reviews grants for NIH and journals like JAMA and Circulation.
Dr. Lee has authored over 140 publications, including high-impact articles on running’s longevity benefits and resistance exercise’s cardiovascular impacts. His work bridges epidemiology, exercise science, and public health to inform clinical and population-level interventions.
