معرفی
Dr. Matthew Lee is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health, University of Glasgow, with an honorary role in the same school. He is affiliated with the BHF Cardiovascular Research Centre. His research focuses on Cardiac Diseases, Diabetes & Endocrinology, and Pharmacotherapy, with emphasis on heart failure, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and biomarkers. He has contributed to over 90 publications, including work on empagliflozin’s effects in heart failure and meta-analyses of cardiovascular outcomes in diabetes. His research bridges clinical trials, pharmacology, and patient outcomes.
Key areas of study include:
- Cardiac Remodelling and biomarkers in heart failure
- GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors in cardiorenal outcomes
- Obesity-heart failure intersections
- Clinical trials in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (SEQUOIA-HCM)
Notable contributions include the SUGAR-DM-HF trial analyzing empagliflozin’s renal and cardiac effects, and systematic reviews on racial disparities in heart failure treatments. His work emphasizes translational research linking metabolic pathways to cardiac function.
Labs/Teams: Active in the BHF Cardiovascular Research Centre, collaborating with global networks on heart failure and diabetes co-morbidities. Involved in multi-center trials like EMPRESS-MI and EMPEROR-Reduced.
