Dr. Duane A. Compton is a Professor of Biochemistry & Cell Biology and Dean of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms governing accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis and the consequences of chromosomal instability (CIN) in cancer progression.
Key research areas include:
- Regulation of kinetochore-microtubule attachments through phosphorylation dynamics
- Role of CIN in tumor development and therapeutic resistance
- Mitotic spindle assembly and error correction mechanisms
Recent publications highlight his work on:
- Quantitative methods for measuring aneuploidy
- CDK and Plk1 interactions in mitotic fidelity
- CIN's impact on glioblastoma and lung cancer stem cells
- Adaptive resistance mechanisms to CIN-targeting therapies
Scientific honors include the prestigious NIH MERIT Award and election as an AAAS Fellow. The lab can be contacted via email at Duane.A.Compton@dartmouth.edu or Duane.Compton@dartmouth.edu.
