Dragana Jurisic is an Assistant Professor at Dublin City University's School of Communications (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) since 2019. She holds a PhD from the University of South Wales and has held roles as Visiting Fellow at University of South Wales (2018–2021) and International Mentor at Melbourne's Photography Studies College (2017–2021). Her work focuses on identity, migration, and historical narratives through photography and interdisciplinary art.
Key works include the award-winning photobook YU: The Lost Country (2015), exploring post-Yugoslav identity, and HER OWN (2022), tracing her aunt’s mysterious life. She has exhibited globally at venues like Museum of Modern Art Rijeka and Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris.
Jurisic serves on Photo Museum Ireland’s Board of Trustees and Arts Council Ireland’s Collection Acquisitions Committee. She has received over 20 awards, including the Dorothe Lange Award and Golden Fleece Recognition. Her research includes projects like On the Edge: Photography, Place, and the Inner Suburb (2021–2024), blending urban studies with visual culture.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on New Media & Society, Photography & Imaging, and Digital Media Skills. She advises PhD student Mandy O’Neill and actively engages in public talks, artist residencies, and collaborative projects with poets like Sarah Cave and Paula Meehan.
