Dragan Gašević is Professor of Learning Analytics at Monash University with a joint appointment in the Faculty of Information Technology. His research develops computational methods for next-generation learning technologies and investigates self-regulated/social learning patterns. He previously held the Canada Research Chair in Semantic and Learning Technologies at Athabasca University and the Sir Tim O'Shea Chair at the University of Edinburgh. As past president of the Society for Learning Analytics Research (SoLAR), he co-founded major conferences and journals in the field.
His work examines how digital data can improve educational outcomes through projects like SHEILA (policy development) and LALA (capacity building in Latin America). Funded by international agencies, his research bridges computer science and learning sciences to create adaptive educational systems.
