معرفی
Douglas Walker, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health at Emory University and adjunct Assistant Professor at Utrecht University. His expertise lies in environmental engineering, analytical chemistry, and exposome-wide association studies (EWAS). He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and a PhD in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from Tufts University.
Research Focus: Dr. Walker’s work centers on developing high-throughput analytical methods to measure environmental exposures and their links to human diseases. Key areas include PFAS, microplastics, and polyfluorinated chemicals. He leads the Comprehensive Laboratory for Untargeted Exposome Science (CLUES), which focuses on exposome-based precision medicine and environmental health research.
Key Projects:
- Exposome-atlas development for non-communicable diseases
- Microplastic exposure biomonitoring in pregnancy and early life
- High-resolution mass spectrometry for environmental biomarker discovery
Advising & Grants: Dr. Walker oversees PhD/postdoctoral training in exposome methodologies and collaborates on multi-million dollar initiatives, including a $39.5M effort to enhance drug efficacy via exposome analysis. Current openings exist in lab and data analysis roles.
Labs/Teams: The CLUES lab provides cutting-edge untargeted screening for biological samples, supporting precision medicine and environmental health studies.
