Douglas Taylor

Douglas Taylor, DNP, RN, is a Clinical Professor and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the U.S. Army. He holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), where he is affiliated with the Graduate School of Nursing’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. With 16+ years of active military service, he has held leadership roles including ICU Nurse in a Combat Support Hospital, Emergency Room Clinical Nurse Officer in Charge, and Chief of behavioral health clinics.

His research focuses on PTSD treatment, substance use disorders (including buprenorphine therapy for opioid addiction), and global health policy advocacy. Publications emphasize hypnotherapy for pain management, institutional stigma in the military, and innovative chronic care models. Professional engagement includes presentations at the American Psychiatric Nurses Association Conference and contributions to nursing policy during graduate training.

Dr. Taylor’s academic interests bridge clinical practice and systemic change, addressing military mental health challenges and healthcare policy. He currently serves at the USUHS campus in Bethesda, Maryland.
