Dr. Douglas Spearot is the Newton C. Ebaugh Professor at University of Florida's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Awarded the 2025 Brimacombe Medal by TMS for contributions to materials science, his research investigates material behavior across scales using computational models.
His group studies diverse materials including hydrogels and high-entropy alloys, focusing on grain boundary phenomena and dislocation mechanics. Research applications include designing resilient microstructures for enhanced material performance. Recognized for teaching excellence as 2020 MAE Teacher of the Year.
