معرفی
Dr. Douglas Oberlin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise Sciences and Recreation at Lehman College, CUNY. He holds a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro (2016), an MS and BS in Exercise Physiology/Nutrition from the University of Missouri (2011). His postdoctoral training included roles at Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism Institute and NYU’s Center for Neuroscience.
His research focuses on the intersection of exercise physiology, metabolism, and cognitive health. Key areas include metabolic adaptations to exercise, diabetes pathophysiology, muscle physiology, and the effects of lifestyle interventions on cardiometabolic risk. His work bridges basic science (e.g., rodent models) with human clinical studies, emphasizing translational outcomes.
Recent studies investigate muscular adaptations to novel resistance training modalities, cognitive benefits of aerobic exercise, and insulin signaling pathways in obesity. His collaborative projects span institutions like NYU and Mount Sinai, addressing topics ranging from truck driver health to meditation’s neurocognitive impacts.
Publications highlight contributions to understanding exercise’s role in metabolic regulation, neuronal signaling in diabetes, and practical training protocols. Despite no awards listed, his work demonstrates sustained engagement in high-impact areas of exercise science and metabolic health.
Oberlin transitioned from adjunct faculty (2018) to full-time role (2020), reflecting institutional investment in his research and teaching. His advising involves mentoring graduate students across multiple collaborative studies, as evidenced by co-authorships in peer-reviewed journals.
