Douglas MacDonald is an Associate Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy's College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. from the University of Windsor. His expertise focuses on spirituality measurement, biopsychosocial functioning, and research methods. As associate editor (research) for the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology and senior research editor for the Journal of Humanistic Psychology, he contributes extensively to academic publishing.
His research spans spirituality's relationship with well-being, cognitive reserve models, and cross-cultural measurement of spiritual constructs. Key areas include critical analyses of genomics studies, vaping physiology, and psychometric validation of spiritual assessment tools like the Expressions of Spirituality Inventory-Revised.
