Douglas Jack is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Law School at the University of Strathclyde. He specializes in Human Rights Law, Public Law, and Legal Theory, with a focus on constitutional frameworks and their application in Scotland. He coordinates key modules such as Law & Society, Law Work Placements, and Human Rights Protection in the UK. Beyond teaching, he serves as Year 1 Lead and Deputy Director for Teaching & Learning, overseeing student wellbeing, curriculum development, and policy formulation.
Education:
- PhD (Doctor of Laws): Defending the Scotland Act 1998 as a 'third way' Bill of Rights (2016–2022)
- LLM in Human Rights Law (2015–2017)
- LLB in Scots Law (2011–2015)
Research focuses on the 'third way' model of human rights protection in Scotland, constitutional theory, socio-economic rights, and critical legal approaches. Recent projects include examining complaints and redress mechanisms in social care (2019–2021) and a Scottish Government-funded research initiative (2018–2019).
