Douglas C. Wager is a Professor of Theater at Temple University's School of Theater, Film and Media Arts. He has been affiliated with the university since 2004, following a 30+ year career as a professional theater director. His extensive industry experience includes serving as Artistic Director of Arena Stage in Washington, DC, spanning 25 seasons as a resident director and producer.
Wager has received three Helen Hayes Awards and 13 nominations for Outstanding Director. His work spans major theaters like The Mark Taper Forum, Guthrie Theater, and Kennedy Center, as well as international venues such as Chichester Festival Theater (UK). He transitioned to television directing the premiere and episodes of AMC's 'The Lot,' which earned Emmy nominations.
His expertise bridges classical and contemporary theater, with a focus on directorial innovation and production. Wager's contributions to both stage and screen reflect his commitment to storytelling across mediums.
