Douglas Brownridge is Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba's Max Rady College of Medicine. His research focuses on social epidemiology of family violence among vulnerable populations.
Education: Ph.D. in Sociology, University of Manitoba (2000); M.A. Sociology (1994); B.A. Sociology/Psychology, Brandon University (1991).
Research examines disparities in violence exposure across marginalized groups, child maltreatment consequences, and methodological advancements in violence studies. Work integrates sociological theories with public health approaches to understand violence etiology and prevention.
Publications address violence patterns in vulnerable groups using large-scale surveys. Recent articles explore personality- violence linkages, childhood maltreatment pathways, and COVID-19 impacts.
