Doug Wallace

Douglas W.R. Wallace is a Professor of Oceanography at Dalhousie University and holds the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Ocean Science and Technology. He is a leading expert in marine biogeochemistry, ocean-atmosphere interactions, and carbon cycle dynamics. His roles include Scientific Director of MEOPAR and the Halifax Marine Research Institute. Wallace holds a PhD from Dalhousie University and a BSc from the University of East Anglia.

His research focuses on ocean carbon cycles, gas exchange processes, and long-term ocean observation systems. Major contributions include studies on deep ocean oxygen export, Arctic marine systems, and global carbon dioxide measurements. Wallace has authored/co-authored over 150 publications, with recent work addressing climate impacts on ocean biogeochemistry and innovative measurement techniques.
