Ulf Riebesell

Ulf Riebesell is Professor of Biological Oceanography at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, University of Kiel. His research examines biological responses to ocean change, including acidification, warming, and oxygen loss. With over 280 publications, he leads large-scale projects like BIOACID and EPOCA investigating carbon cycle-climate feedbacks.

Research focuses on:

• Plankton community responses to anthropogenic stressors
• Ocean alkalinity enhancement for carbon sequestration
• Biogeochemical consequences of climate interventions
