Dr. Dorothy Morrissey is a Lecturer in Drama Education at Mary Immaculate College (MIC), serving as the EDI and Interculturalism Lead and Theatre Artist in Residence Coordinator. Her work focuses on arts integration in education, with expertise in teacher-artist partnerships, special education, and Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA). She holds a BEd, MA, EdD (University of Bristol), and graduate diplomas in Drama and Dance.
Her research addresses policy narratives in arts education, ethical dimensions of applied theatre, and creative collaborations in schools. Notable projects include the STAR strand of BLAST, Creative Clusters, and the 'I am Creative' initiative in special education settings. She has secured significant external funding from Ireland's Department of Education and other bodies.
Dr. Morrissey has published extensively in journals like Irish Educational Studies and Qualitative Inquiry, with a focus on drama education, teacher identity, and arts-based research methods. She supervises doctoral students exploring topics like TYA adaptations and women in academic leadership.
Her memberships include the Educational Studies Association of Ireland and National Council for Curriculum and Assessment. She actively contributes to conferences globally, presenting on creativity in education, TYA, and policy analysis.
