Dorothy Dean is an Associate Professor of Religion at the Department of History, Philosophy, and Religion, where she teaches courses on Christian thought, gender in Abrahamic traditions, and ethics and social justice in world religions. She joined the department in 2021 and is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research.

Her scholarly work spans ecofeminism, radical theology, and the interplay between philosophy, religion, and climate change. She is currently exploring human exceptionalism in Christian ecotheology, concepts of the divine, and the theological significance of human/animal relationships in an edited volume on religion and friendship.
Dean has served on the steering committees for the Feminist Theory and Religious Reflection Unit and the Religious Reflections on Friendship Seminar since 2009, contributing to dialogues on feminist theory, religious practices, and ethical frameworks in environmental contexts.
