Dr. Dorota Ucherek is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Editing, University of Wrocław, specializing in text editing, fantasy literature, and cultural representations of magic. She holds a PhD in Polish Philology with an editing specialization, focusing on the anthropology of writing and literary analysis of magical characters. Her research spans editorial practices, new technologies in publishing, and the intersection of folklore with contemporary literature.
She has contributed to projects supporting scientific journals like 'Pamiętnik Literacki' and 'Quarta', and her work includes monographs and articles analyzing magic in fantasy literature, editorial typographic standards, and cultural phenomena like the Women’s Strike. She is a language and content editor for journals such as 'Meluzyna' and Ossolineum publications. Her research interests also encompass the Polish book market and the adaptation of folklore motifs in modern narratives.
Ucherek has co-organized scientific conferences and is a member of the 'Trickster' research association. Her recent publications explore mythical sources of fantasy literature, typographic conventions in Polish publishing, and the cultural significance of book design.
