Donna Roberson is a Professor in the Advanced Nursing Practice and Education department at East Carolina University's College of Nursing. Dr. Roberson serves as Principal Investigator for the Carolina Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (CGWEP), funded by the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (2024-2026) and previously led the Carolina Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (2019-2024) funded by HRSA. She has received multiple grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for HIV prevention research. Her professional service includes membership on the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care Nominations Committee (2022-2024) and serving as a reviewer for the Journal of Advanced Nursing (2024).
Dr. Roberson leads interdisciplinary teams focused on geriatric workforce development and dementia care innovation. Her Carolina Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program involves collaboration across multiple institutions to improve care for older adults in Eastern North Carolina. She has developed educational programs for Parkinson's Disease caregivers and implemented community-based initiatives like the SLAM DUNC Brainiac Bootcamp to engage seniors in brain health activities.
