Donna Peehl, PhD, is a Professor in the Body Imaging Research Group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. She previously served as Professor Emerita at Stanford University's Department of Urology after 35 years. Her research focuses on developing preclinical models for prostate and kidney cancers, including patient-derived xenografts and tissue slice cultures. Current projects involve testing inhibitors of AXL and IQGAP proteins, investigating glycosylation as an immunotherapy target, and hyperpolarized molecular imaging under an NIH U01 grant.
Education: PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (University of Colorado, Boulder), postdoctoral training at UC Irvine and UCSF. Honors include the 2016 Award for Excellence in Urologic Research from SWIU/SBUR.
Research Interests: Prostate/kidney cancer models, metabolic profiling, drug testing, biomarkers, and translational science. Over 200 peer-reviewed articles and editorial roles in scientific journals.
Grants: NIH U24CA253377 (Co-PI), NIH U01CA217456 (Co-PI), NIH R01 grants. Collaborations with UCSF and Stanford on co-clinical trials and imaging innovations.
