Donna Masini is a Professor of English at Hunter College, part of the City University of New York (CUNY). She holds an MFA in Poetry from New York University (1988). Her academic roles include teaching undergraduate and graduate workshops in poetry and fiction, as well as leading thesis supervision in the MFA program. She has also taught literature courses on Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, and 20th-century American women poets.
Her research focuses on creative writing and contemporary poetry, blending personal narrative with urban themes. Notable publications include poetry collections like 4:30 Movie (2018) and Turning to Fiction (2004), and the novel About Yvonne (1997). Her work explores themes of loss, identity, and the intersections of art and daily life.
Awarded the Barnard Women Poet’s Prize (1994), NEA Fellowship, and NYFA Grant, her contributions to literary arts are widely recognized. Current projects include her upcoming poetry collection In Cahoots.
