Nicole Cooley is a Professor in the Department of English at Queens College, CUNY. She specializes in poetry, contemporary poetics, and short-form non-fiction. Her work has been recognized with prestigious awards including the Walt Whitman Award and National Endowment for the Arts Grant. She teaches undergraduate courses on modern poetry and politics, as well as MFA workshops in poetry and creative writing.
Cooley's research explores intersections of personal narrative, cultural history, and literary form. Her publications include six poetry collections and two chapbooks, with recent works appearing in Poetry, American Poetry Review, and The Atlantic. She actively contributes to literary communities through her roles in the MFA program and the Writers at Queens reading series.
