Dr. Donna Byers is an Associate Professor in the Department of Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences at West Texas A&M University's Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences. She teaches Basic and Contemporary Biology, upper-division Cell Biology, and previously taught Cancer Biology, Bioethics, Neurobiology, and Vertebrate Physiology.
Her research focuses on:
- Early development of the cholinergic system in the brain
- Genetic markers of gender-specific stress effects on learning and memory
- Molecular mechanisms of nutraceuticals as cancer therapeutics
Dr. Byers advises Pre-Med and Pre-Dental students and authored the educational text Cell Biology in the Lab. She is affiliated with the Happy State Bank Academic & Research Building, Suite 262.
