Donatella Biagi is a Confirmed Associate Professor at the University of Bologna’s Department of Arts, specializing in modern art history and restoration theory. She has held academic roles since 1993, focusing on 17th- and 18th-century Italian art, art academies, and the interplay between art and science. Her research has led to UNESCO protocols for heritage preservation and EU-funded projects like GIANO and NEREA.
Education: Graduated with honors in Modern Literature (University of Bologna, 1989 PhD in Art History). She has organized major international conferences and exhibitions, including the 2002 Gandolfi exhibition under presidential patronage and the 2016 Franco Maria Ricci exhibition on Gaetano Gandolfi’s scientific portraits.
She co-directs the 'Storia e Teoria del Restauro' book series and chairs UNESCO-related heritage conservation initiatives. Awards include her thesis publication in prestigious annals and her role in strengthening Mtskheta’s UNESCO protection.
