Donald Sands

Dr Donald Sands is an Honorary Associate Professor at the School of the Environment, The University of Queensland. His research focuses on insect systematics, ecology, and their applications in pest management and conservation. He holds a PhD in Biological Sciences (1982) and a Higher Doctorate in Science (2023), both from The University of Queensland.

His work bridges taxonomy, biogeography, and applied conservation, particularly within the Lepidoptera family Lycaenidae. Key research contributions include studies on the Luciini tribe's ecology and systematics, as well as broader applications of insect ecology in sustainable pest management strategies.
