معرفی
Abigail Martens is an Assistant Professor of Entomology at South Dakota State University’s Department of Agronomy, Horticulture and Plant Science. Her work focuses on insect systematics, biodiversity, and ecological interactions, particularly among parasitoid wasps, bumble bees, and seed-eating insects. She is affiliated with the Berg Agricultural Hall and conducts research in South Dakota’s prairie ecosystems.
Her research emphasizes species discovery, taxonomic revisions, and understanding plant-insect relationships. Notable projects include studies on Braconidae parasitoids, bumble bee diversity in native plantings, and seed-insect interactions in prairie clover. She has contributed to global biodiversity documentation through taxonomic revisions of wasp genera and aphid parasitoids.
Martens’ publications reflect a strong focus on applied entomology, including biological control strategies and pollinator conservation. Her work bridges taxonomy, ecology, and conservation, with implications for agricultural pest management and ecosystem preservation.
