Dominic White

Dominic White serves as Professor and Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, where he contributes to teaching and research in theology and is establishing a new centre for theology and the arts. Previously, he served as Acting Director of Research at the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology and contributed to teaching in the Cambridge University Divinity Faculty.

His research focuses on the intersection of arts, spirituality, and contemporary society, with particular emphasis on liturgical anthropology as a means for reconciling liturgical tensions, spirituality and creation, and the role of the arts as places of spiritual beauty and wisdom-seeking. His scholarly approach uniquely integrates theological scholarship with artistic expression across multiple media.

His creative-scholarly output demonstrates a consistent trajectory from his 2015 work 'The Lost Knowledge of Christ' through to recent musical compositions like 'Missa Maris' (2024) and 2025 releases. These works explore connections between theological concepts and artistic expression, particularly in liturgical music, choral composition, and multimedia worship experiences that bridge ancient traditions with contemporary practice.

As a practicing musician, Fr White serves as pianist, organist, and composer, co-founding the Friends of Sophia group. His work exemplifies the integration of academic theological inquiry with creative artistic practice, reflecting his belief in the arts as vital spaces for spiritual exploration in contemporary society.
