Dominic Toscano is an Assistant Professor of Chinese in the Department of East Asian Studies at Oberlin College, within the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the literary and cultural history of medieval China, particularly the Tang dynasty (618–907), emphasizing poetry anthologies and their reflection of cultural values. He holds a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles (2014), an MA from the University of Colorado, Boulder (2016), and a PhD from Harvard University (2022).

Research Interests: Toscano specializes in the Tang dynasty’s poetic legacy, analyzing extant poetry anthologies to uncover the tastes and values of writers during this culturally vibrant era. His current book project explores how these anthologies provide unique insights into the period’s literary and political dynamics.
