Domenico Nicolò is a Full Professor of Business Economics at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria (Italy), where he serves as Director of the ReTMES Laboratory (Research Team on Mediterranean Enterprises and Startups). He is an Affiliate Research Fellow at the IPAG Chair “Towards an Inclusive Company” and a member of the international TREnD research project (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions). He holds a Doctorate in Business Economics from the University of Catania (1996) and a Laurea cum laude in Economics and Management from the University of Messina (1990). His roles include Delegate for Business Creation and Technology Transfer in the DIGIES Department and membership in the Board of the Research Doctorate in Law and Economics.
His research focuses on startup vulnerability, management control systems, corporate social responsibility, and family business strategies. He has advised firms like Ferrero SpA and AIR SpA, and contributed to ventures such as Turn8 Accelerator in Dubai. Nicolò is an Associate Editor of journals like the International Journal of Advances in Management and Economics and a frequent speaker at international conferences, including keynotes on startup survival and Mediterranean entrepreneurship.
His work emphasizes the interplay between innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurial success, with notable publications on segment reporting, venture capital valuation, and high-growth enterprises. He actively engages in doctoral education, delivering seminars on startup management, intellectual property, and business planning across multiple universities.
