معرفی
Dr. Dohoon Kim is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular, Cell and Cancer Biology at UMass Chan Medical School, with additional affiliations in NeuroNexus Institute, Cancer Biology, and other graduate programs. He holds a BS and MS in Biological Sciences from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and a PhD in Cellular & Developmental Biology from Harvard University.
His research focuses on cancer metabolism, selenium biology, and cellular detoxification mechanisms. Key areas include metabolic vulnerabilities in cancer cells, ferroptosis regulation, and redox homeostasis. Dr. Kim's work bridges basic molecular mechanisms with therapeutic applications in oncology.
Publications from the last decade show consistent focus on metabolic pathways in cancer, with recent emphasis on selenium metabolism, ferroptosis, and metabolic detoxification. Significant contributions include identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities related to sugar nucleotide clearance and sphingolipid biosynthesis in cancer.
Dr. Kim directs a research laboratory investigating cancer cell survival mechanisms under metabolic stress. Current work aims to translate findings into novel cancer therapies targeting metabolic dependencies and redox regulation.
