Dobrev Dobromir

Dobrev Dobromir is a Full Professor and Director of the Institute of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine, University Duisburg-Essen (Germany). He also holds adjunct professorships at Baylor College of Medicine (USA) and the Montreal Heart Institute (Canada). His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of atrial fibrillation, calcium handling, cardiac inflammation, and drug discovery for arrhythmias. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed articles and serves as Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Cardiology: Heart and Vasculature.

Education and career highlights include roles as Chair of Experimental Cardiology at Heidelberg University (2010-2012), Postdoctoral Fellow at Dresden University of Technology (1994-1999), and leadership in the Transatlantic Networks of Excellence in Cardiovascular Research (2007-2013). He has received prestigious awards including an Honorary Doctorate from Carol Davila University (2022), Fellowships from the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS, 2022), and multiple teaching awards (2021).
